INTERMED CLINICAL ONLINE COURSE GUIDE 2024

Level 3

ACCESS COURSE FOR LASER, IPL & LED – HAIR & SKIN PROCEDURES (£145) This course is aimed at individuals seeking a career using light-based devices such as Lasers, Intense Pulsed Light or LED's for skin & hair treatments but who do not have a relevant beauty or scientific qualification or background. It is recommended that these learners complete this access course before studying the Level 4 'Core of Knowledge' course. Some local authorities insist that learners complete a Level 3 learning course before moving on to a more detailed Level 4 course. This new access course fills the gap needed to understand the principles of using light-based treatments. The access course covers basic anatomy of the skin plus physical properties of light. It introduces treatment principles and types of equipment used in cosmetic treatments of skin and hair. The course also covers the currently bewildering aspect of UK regulatory issues when using light-based systems in the UK. CORE OF KNOWLEDGE FOR LASER, IPL & LED – HAIR & SKIN (£145) The 'Core of Knowledge' is a syllabus set out in the Department of Health MHRA bulletin "Guidelines for the Safe Use of Lasers, Intense Light Sources and LED's in Medicine, Surgery, Dental and Cosmetic Practice". The most recent update of this document was published in 2015. The 'Core of Knowledge' (along with operator training on the specific equipment in use) is considered to be the most basic knowledge of lasers and light sources that is usually required by local authorities, insurers and other regulatory bodies. This comprehensive online training has been designed to allow the user to study at their own pace and when ready, to complete an online multiple-choice assessment. The course also includes an online "Risk Assessment" exercise and allows users to download supporting material for future reference. CORE OF KNOWLEDGE FOR LASER, IPL & LED – HAIR & SKIN (REFRESHER) (£110) Many UK local authorities and insurers insist that laser and intense light source users complete a refresher 'Core of Knowledge' periodically - the interval specified varies from 3 to 5 years. Please check with your own local authority or regional regulatory body the exact requirement in your area. To simplify the process Intermed Clinical has introduced a system whereby a user completes an online assessment to check that their knowledge is up to date. ANATOMY & PHYSIOLOGY – HAIR, SKIN & NAILS (£145) This online course has been developed to provide learners with knowledge of Anatomy and Physiology systems that are involved in Laser & IPL treatments. The body systems covered include: Skin, Hair and Nails, Components of Blood, the Circulatory System, The Lymphatic System, an overview of Immunology, the Endocrine System, Wound Healing and Ageing Skin. Level 4

Along with the Core of Knowledge course, this Anatomy & Physiology course underpins all other Laser & IPL courses offered by Intermed Clinical.
