INTERMED CLINICAL ONLINE COURSE GUIDE 2024

Level 5

LASER & IPL PROTECTION SUPERVISOR (LPS) (£350) This course is aimed at individuals who are working as an Aesthetic Laser Protection Supervisor (LPS) at their practice - it is usual that in practices where there are several Laser or IPL operators that a Laser Protection Supervisor is appointed to ensure that the practice of Local Rules is followed by the team on a day-to-day basis. The course reviews the safety theory of the 'Core of Knowledge' in more detail and sets out the role of the Laser Protection Supervisor. The course includes an online assessment of the presented theory, but additionally the learner must carry out reflective study of the reference materials supplied in order to create and submit various 'workbooks' that will be assessed - these cover detailed analysis of the practice's risk assessment and the related local rules. LASER TATTOO REMOVAL (£1,250) This course has been developed to provide Laser Technicians, Tattooists and other Practitioners with a convenient method of gaining the necessary learning required to offer Laser Tattoo Removal treatments. The course is divided into seven modules - six online theory modules plus a practical module which allows us to assess the learner's skills. Q-SWITCHED ND:YAG LASERS – CARBON LASER FACIAL PROCEDURES (£145) This course is aimed at practitioners who are already using a tattoo removal laser or are about to install one at their premises. The Carbon Laser Facial is an additional treatment that can be offered using most of the popular Q- switched Nd:Yag lasers, and can therefore increase the owner’s laser business. The technique only requires the use of a special inexpensive tip for the laser and some special carbon paste which is applied to the client's skin. This course provides a comprehensive view of the treatment including a step by step guide to safely carrying out this facial rejuvenation procedure, and additionally covers a new enhanced two stage treatment that improves the reduction of fine lines. Q-SWITCHED ND:YAG LASERS – NAIL FUNGAL PROCEDURES (£145) Nail fungal infections (Onychomycosis) are often difficult to treat with traditional anti-fungal drugs - many of which are highly toxic and require clients to have regular blood tests to check for any signs of liver damage. Recently, different types of lasers have been used to treat these nail plate fungal infections with varying degrees of success. At first, most of these lasers were long pulsed systems that heated the nail bed in an effort to destroy the filaments of fungus. However, recently a technical paper was published by a team of European researchers that describes the use of the Q-switched Nd:Yag laser normally used for tattoo removal. If the learner does not have access to suitable equipment, the practical assessment can be carried out at one of SGI’s fully equipped training centres.

This laser procedure is extremely easy to carry out and provides an additional treatment that can expand the use of the popular Q-switched Nd:Yag laser found in many UK tattoo studios and clinics.
